It is good there is some public transit to this place! This started out very promisingly as a fast breeder nuclear power plant open to the public, the plant had never been made radioactive, but the cooling system was filled with liquid metallic Na. You could go on a self-guided lengthy tour showing how much equipment and installations one needs around a nuclear reactor. The reactor building was at the local average temperature of 9 C. Thus, the tour could end with a buffet of hearty snacks that was refrigerated just by having been set up in the reactor building, and that was much appreciated. An operating plant would be very warm. Unfortunately, this valuable site (the only one of its kind in the world) was not protected as a monument by the government (probably due to a German anti-nuclear ideology prevalent in the country since the Chernobyl fire and an ugly confrontation involving the construction site of a nuclear power station near Hamburg). As a result, the owner tore everything out he thought he could sell as scrap material leaving only the amusement park, and hotel parts, and some gutted buildings. The buildings were badly damaged by all sorts of passages broken through load-bearing walls. The hotels and amusement park would have helped maintain the monument and a museum. A huge opportunity lost for no reason at all.
